Engineering life at TUNE [video]

With about 350 employees, TUNE is at a very interesting and important size as a company. As our scale goes up, we’re constantly faced with new challenges and problems that we have not encountered before. Because of our continued growth, we are expanding our engineering teams and hiring passionate engineers who are eager to solve scalability challenges. When dealing with a change rate of billions of events per month, this plays a huge role in our efforts of scaling to succeed.

As we come across these new problems, we are constantly coming up with new architectures to stay on the cutting edge, such as distributed consensus. Our engineers must ask themselves, ‘how do you engineer that when both data correctness and low latency are must haves?’. These cutting edge problems allow us to innovate at scale, but in order to successfully overcome these obstacles, we must always plan ahead and think about what is most important for our clients and partners.

Ultimately, we are here to help our customers win and find the best solutions –the faster we can surface up and analyze analytics, the faster our clients can make decisions and optimize their marketing campaigns.

Our business and customer needs demand that we stay on the forefront of technologies and techniques, and thus experimenting and becoming experts on a wide variety of new technologies is a norm and essentially a way of life for our engineers. Team members on our engineering leadership are always reading up on new research papers, particularly papers that relate to distributed systems process, and they encourage their teams to do the same. This does not go without saying that several engineers have very strong feelings about their favorite papers!  Research plays a huge part if things go wrong, because we have to be able to understand, diagnose and implement a fix right away.

Because TUNE is continuing to grow and we know scalability challenges are in our future, we are always on the lookout for engineers who thrive and are hungry for solving challenges and celebrating victories that will take TUNE to the next level. Hear more about what it is like to be an engineer at TUNE with our latest video, discussing scalability and how TUNE is scaling to succeed.
