Postback 17: Day 2 Highlights

postback 17

This Postback, 1000 attendees from more than 25 countries gathered in Seattle for one epic, sold out weekend. From head coach Pete Carroll of the Seattle Seahawks, to mainstage sessions from Apple, Uber, Southwest, and others, it was a weekend to remember. Here are a few highlights from day two. (In case you missed it, here’s what happened day one.)

1. Announcing new TUNE Certified Partners

Our Certified Partner Program honors advertising partners integrated with TUNE who are committed to upholding the most unbiased, trustworthy standards in mobile marketing. Certified partners pass rigorous standards, as defined by TUNE, to be highlighted as the best partners in the industry. We’re excited to welcome four new Certified Partners: Tapjoy, Jampp, Taptica, and YouAppi. (Discover more TUNE Certified Partners here as well as a way to find the right ad partners with ease.)

2. Bringing a wall-less garden to life

You may have heard us talk about our mission to unite the industry through a wall-less garden. That is, to identify our core competencies, focus on those, and provide an environment where other businesses can fill the gaps we leave behind — instead of doing what is so commonplace in tech, where companies build platforms to deliberately exclude competitors for their own benefit. As such, we thought it only fitting to end Postback 17 with our very own IRL wall-less garden. Here are a few preview pics. See the others on social media with the hashtag #Postback17.

3. Apple closes out a day of groundbreaking sessions

There were so many incredible presentations and quotables from the day. There was Kevin Krone, Chief Marketing Officer at Southwest Airlines, who said, “Know what the customer needs before they do. It’s all about solving a problem before it happens and answering question before it’s been asked.” There was Jenny Wise, Senior Analyst of Forrester Research and one of last year’s crowd favorites, who added, “Competitors are disrupting the industry, and customers are changing their expectations based on those disruptions. They’re projecting those expectations onto you.” There was even a session in which David Spitz, Chief Marketing Officer at mParticle, humored us with a fortune-teller hat, predicting that, “Mobile will eat the marketing world.” And Stewart Rodgers, Director of Marketing Technology at VentureBeat, got real when it came to AI, noting, “A lot of people say they have AI-powered tech or say they have AI, but all they’re doing is machine learning, predictive analytics, or data mining. Only a few people actually have AI, or are doing it right.”

But one of the key highlights was Apple’s VP of Advertising Platforms, Todd Teresi, who discussed growth hacking one’s App Store presence with Search Ads, and what it takes for the industry to unite around more transparent data.

More to come

In the coming weeks, we’ll share the photos, videos, quotes, and memories from this year’s Postback. Thanks to those of you who could attend and make this year the best Postback yet. Now we’d love to hear — what were your favorite moments from the weekend? Tell us in the comments below!
